Habiki’s mutation is activated when he utters words or commands aloud that are reinforced with strong enough emotion, regardless what that emotion is . His speech compels the listener to act or be acted upon as a command, and its very hard not be compelled, but not impossible to snap out of . For example,he can command his opponent to stop moving or for them to be crushed. The strength of the compulsion depends on the emotional level of the vocalist.
The primary strength of his mutation is its immense versatility due to its techniques being based on language. It is also effective against any opponent. Anyone unaware of how to defend against his specific mutation would be helpless against his words at first, or indefinitely . Like most mutant techniques, overusing his speech takes a physical toll on the mans body. The stronger the words used, the worse the side effects are. In the worse case scenario, it could backfire on the user and result in sore throats, coughing up blood, and/or losing the ability to speak. Many of these symptoms can be remedied with cough syrup or cough medicine. As Habiki uses language it thus is volatile in nature, it can make it dangerous to speak with others. Civilians and anyone within the range of him will be affected. As a countermeasure, he tends to limit their casual language to certain safe words to avoid triggering cursed speech. For example, he communicates using words that might confuse the mutation, or render it useless until he learns to control it . While this affects their day-to-day life of talking with others, it helps prevent unnecessary hazards. As a side effect, he would tend to be a reserved individual who uses coded language or sign language due to their inability to converse naturally with others. People can protect themselves from his vocal command by wearing very heavy duty headphones or ear plugs that affect the flow of sound to the brains section that controls ear function. This allows them to prevent words and commands from him, or at least the siren like pull which reinforces those commands from being registered and executed.
